For many years, CBD has been considered to be a product that can be used to prevent disease. It can be used in many different ways which means that it can be applied in a lotion or it can be taken orally but either way, it could provide a wealth of benefits. So, what diseases could it prevent?
Diabetes and Obesity
Both of these diseases and illnesses are increasing amongst the population. However, it has been found through research that rates of obesity are one third lower in those who use CBD. Furthermore, Israeli-American pharmaceutical companies are now looking at how CBD can be used to treat diabetes. It is believed that CBD can help change white fat into brown fat that reduces weight and then helps to regulate normal insulin production and sugar metabolism.
Cholesterol and Cardiovascular Disease
Cholesterol and cardiovascular disease go hand in hand but research could suggest that endocannabinoid signalling could help. The inflammatory properties can help to enhance CB2 receptors as they can triple in response to inflammation, such as that found in cholesterol and heart disease.
Low doses of CBD could help to slow down the build-up of cholesterol while CBD could also help to protect the heart as CB1 and CB2 play a role in cardiovascular illness.
Reducing the Risk of Cancer
CBD could have the potential to prevent tumours and other cancers before they grow. Research has looked into this in animals and those who were given CBD were considered to be less likely to develop colon cancer. It is also possible for topical products to be used in the treatment and the prevention of skin cancers and so, researchers are still looking at the potential of this and the most effective dose level if it is proven to work.
Prevent Brain Deterioration
Cannabinoids have neuroprotective properties which means that they can help to regulate brain health. It could help to remove damaged cells while it could improve the efficiency of mitochondria. Through reducing glutamate toxicity, it could help to prevent brain cells from becoming overstimulated which can lead to cell damage or death. Therefore, CBD could help to protect brain cells. Furthermore, with the creation of new cells, it can help to stop degenerative diseases and that could be achieved with small doses of CBD.
Bone Disease
Cannabinoids might have the potential to help aid the process of bone metabolism. This is where old bone is replaced with new bone. This can help to keep bones healthy and strong. CBD has also been found to block an enzyme that attacks bone-building compounds and that helps to reduce the risk of osteoporosis or osteoarthritis. With new bone-cell formation potentially being achieved with CBD, it could help to speed up the process of healing broken bones and that in turn could strengthen bones to reduce the likelihood of breaking them again in the future.
So, CBD can have a positive effect on many different ailments and diseases that we experience in our lives, making it something that we should add to our daily routine.
